The local choice of rental cars in Tinejdad can be limited, so many travelers pick up in Errachidia, Goulmima or Tinghir. This guide explains what to compare, what to confirm in writing and how to prepare the drive.
Car rental for Tinejdad is the most practical way to explore this quiet oasis town in the Ferkla valley at your own pace. This guide covers where to pick up the car, which vehicle category to choose, what to confirm in writing with the agency and how to prepare the drive.
Tinejdad is a small town in Errachidia province, in the Drâa-Tafilalet region, on the road between Goulmima and Tinghir. The choice of rental cars in the town itself can be limited, so many travelers rent in a larger nearby hub and drive in.
A car is useful for many profiles: tourists exploring the south-east, Moroccans living abroad (MRE) visiting family in the oasis villages, business travelers and local renters. With your own vehicle you can stop at ksour and palm groves, reach guesthouses outside the town centre and continue towards Tinghir or Errachidia on your own schedule, instead of depending on bus or taxi timetables.
RentalMe is a Moroccan marketplace that connects renters with professional rental agencies; it does not own or supply the cars itself. For a broader view of the area, read our Tinghir car rental guide.
The most realistic approach is usually to collect the car in a larger town or at an airport, then drive to Tinejdad. The main options:
Whichever hub you choose, confirm in the agency's written terms the exact pick-up address, opening hours, any delivery option and any extra fee for an out-of-hours handover or a return in another town.
Choose the car for your itinerary, luggage and number of passengers, not only for the lowest price. As an indication, customer budgets are roughly 100–700 DH per day, depending on the vehicle category, the season, the agency and the actual offer; this is not a quote, and only the agency's written offer counts.
Economy or compact car: well suited to paved roads between Errachidia, Goulmima, Tinejdad and Tinghir. Easier to park in narrow streets and usually more economical on fuel. Specify whether you want a manual or automatic gearbox.
Small SUV or crossover: more comfortable for a family, heavier luggage or a guesthouse reached by a rougher access track.
Larger vehicle: a seven-seater or minivan for groups or MRE families with plenty of luggage, with higher fuel consumption and harder parking as the trade-off.
Check whether the contract allows driving on unpaved tracks: many agencies restrict this, and some may require a specific vehicle or written authorisation. If you need a child seat, ask when you book and get the confirmation in writing.
Conditions vary from one agency to another, so rely on the written contract rather than verbal promises. Check in particular:
Read every clause before signing, and keep a copy of the contract.
Agencies usually ask for a valid driving licence and an identity document (passport for foreign visitors, national ID card for Moroccan residents), and often a payment card in the main driver's name. Requirements such as minimum age, years of driving experience, a young-driver supplement or an international driving permit depend on the agency and sometimes on the vehicle category: confirm them directly with the provider before you travel.
For insurance, ask for the written list of what is covered, the excess amount and the exclusions. Anything not stated in writing should not be assumed to be covered.
Depending on your pick-up point, you will usually arrive from Errachidia via Goulmima, or from Tinghir heading east, through the palm groves of the Ferkla valley. In Morocco you drive on the right.
Slow down when entering villages and oasis areas, where you may meet pedestrians, cyclists and animals. Follow the posted speed limits, which change often near built-up areas.
Download offline maps before you leave, in case mobile reception is weak. Refuel in the larger towns such as Errachidia, Goulmima or Tinghir before quieter stretches, check the fuel type shown near the filler cap and carry some cash in dirhams, as not every station may accept cards. Whenever possible, drive in daylight and allow extra time for slower traffic through villages.

At return:
Keep the contract and inspection forms until the deposit has been released.
