The choice of cars in Ras El Ma itself can be small, so most travelers pick up at Nador airport, Nador, Saidia, Berkane or Oujda. This guide explains what to compare, what to confirm in writing and how to plan the drive.
Car rental for Ras El Ma, also known as Cap de l'Eau or Cabo de Agua, is the most comfortable way to explore this quiet Mediterranean fishing port between Nador and Saidia. This guide explains where to pick up the car, which category to choose, what to confirm in writing with the agency and how to prepare the drive.
Ras El Ma is a small coastal town in Nador province, close to the mouth of the Moulouya river. Its beach, fishing port and relaxed atmosphere attract families, travelers arriving from Spain and Moroccans living abroad (MRE) returning to the Oriental region.
Public transport to the town can be limited, so a car gives you freedom: leave early, bring your beach gear, combine Ras El Ma with Saidia, Nador or the Moulouya estuary, and head back to your accommodation whenever you like, without relying on taxis.
RentalMe is a Moroccan marketplace that connects renters with professional rental agencies; it does not own or supply the cars. If your base is on the coast, also read our Saidia car rental guide.
The choice of cars in Ras El Ma itself can be small, so most travelers pick up the vehicle in a nearby city or airport and then drive to the town:
Whichever point you choose, confirm in the agency's written conditions the exact pickup address, opening hours, any delivery option and any surcharge for out-of-hours pickup or a return in another city.
Choose the car for your itinerary, luggage and number of passengers, not only for the lowest price. As a guide, customer budgets are around 100 to 700 DH (dirhams) per day, depending on the vehicle category, season, agency and the actual offer; this is not a fixed quote, and only the agency's written offer counts.
Ask the agency about air conditioning, included mileage, the fuel policy and the spare wheel. If you need a child seat, request it when booking and get it confirmed in writing.
Every agency sets its own conditions, so rely on the written contract rather than verbal promises. Check in particular:
Read every clause before signing and keep a copy of the contract.
Ras El Ma lies on the Mediterranean coast between Nador and Saidia, near the mouth of the Moulouya. Depending on your pickup point, you will arrive from Nador in the west, from Saidia or Berkane in the east, or from Oujda if you are coming from inland. Check the route in a navigation app before you leave and download offline maps in case mobile coverage is weak.
In Morocco you drive on the right. Slow down when passing through villages and farmland, where you may meet pedestrians, animals and slow vehicles, and respect the posted speed limits.
In summer and holiday periods, traffic towards the Oriental's beaches usually increases: leaving early helps you avoid the hottest hours. If you are coming from far away, take breaks, refuel before the coastal stretch, carry water and some cash in dirhams and, whenever possible, drive in daylight. Keep the agency's assistance number at hand.
At pickup:
At return:
Keep the contract and inspection reports until the deposit is released.
Ask your accommodation where to park overnight and do not leave valuables visible inside the car.
RentalMe is being built as a marketplace that connects renters with professional rental agencies in Morocco. Is it better to pick up the car at Nador airport, in Nador city or in Saidia? It depends on your trip: the airport if you fly in, Saidia if you are staying on the beach, and Nador city if you have errands there. Compare the written conditions of each offer.
Do I need a 4x4 to reach Ras El Ma? A regular car or SUV is enough for the usual paved roads. If you plan to use tracks, first confirm whether the contract allows it.
What budget should I plan for a rental car for Ras El Ma? As a guide, customer budgets are around 100 to 700 DH per day, depending on the vehicle category, season, agency and the actual offer. It is not a fixed quote: also plan for fuel, the deposit and any extras.
Can I return the car in another city? Some agencies allow it, sometimes with a surcharge. Ask for it explicitly and confirm the cost in writing before signing.
Which documents do I need? Usually a valid driving licence, an identity document and a payment card. Confirm with the agency whether you need an international driving permit and what age or licence seniority it requires.
When should I book? Ideally in advance for summer and holiday periods, and always after reading the conditions carefully.
If you plan your pickup point well and confirm every condition in writing, your trip to Ras El Ma and the Oriental coast will be simple and relaxed.
