Targuist sits in the Rif mountains, inland in Al Hoceima province, among valleys and mountain villages. For many Moroccans living abroad (MRE), it is where family lives. Whether you are visiting relatives or exploring the region, you will quickly see how useful your own car is. Car rental in Targuist gives you the freedom to drive through the Rif at your own pace: from the souk to the family village, and from mountain roads to the coast.

Step by step: car rental in Targuist with RentalMe
RentalMe is an online marketplace that connects renters with professional rental agencies in Morocco. RentalMe is not a rental agency itself: the vehicle, the rental agreement and the service always come from the agency.
- Go to RentalMe and search for "Targuist" or "Al Hoceima".
- Enter your pick-up and return dates.
- Compare the available vehicles and the terms of each offer.
- Read the agency's terms: deposit, insurance, mileage, fuel and any extra costs.
- Choose the car that fits your trip and complete your booking.
- If needed, agree on pick-up time, a child seat or other details with the agency in advance.
Budget: rental prices are indicatively between 100 DH and 700 DH per day, depending on the vehicle category, the season, the agency and the actual offer. This is not a quote or a fixed price.
What to check in the rental terms
The terms are always set by the rental agency. Check these points in every offer and in the written contract:
- Licence and documents: ask which documents the agency requires and which age or driving-experience conditions it applies.
- Deposit and payment method: check the deposit amount, how it is held and which payment methods are accepted.
- Insurance: read which cover is included, how high the excess is and which additional options exist.
- Mileage policy: check whether there is a daily limit, especially if you plan to visit many villages around Targuist.
- Fuel policy: check the fuel level at pick-up and the level expected at return.
- Extras: a child seat, an additional driver or navigation may cost extra.
- Usage restrictions: ask whether any restrictions apply, for example on unpaved roads.
Pick-up and return checklist
A fixed checklist helps avoid disputes about damage or fuel.
- At pick-up: check the bodywork, windows, mirrors, tyres and lights together with the agent. Take photos and have existing damage noted on the contract.
- Mileage and fuel: note both at departure and check that they match the contract.
- Controls: ask how the lights, wipers and air conditioning work while you are still at the rental point.
- Contact details: note the agency's phone number and the roadside assistance number from the contract.
- At return: bring the fuel to the agreed level, remove your belongings and take daylight photos of the bodywork.
- Timing: return at the agreed time and read the instructions in advance if you come back outside opening hours.
