Kassita rarely has a car to collect on the spot, so most travelers rent in Nador or Al Hoceima. This guide explains what to compare, what to confirm in writing and how to prepare the drive.
Kassita is a small town in Driouch province, in the Rif of north-eastern Morocco. For many Moroccans living in the Netherlands and Belgium it is a familiar destination for family visits. If you are looking for car rental for Kassita, do not count on collecting the car in the town itself: you will usually rent in a larger city or at an airport in the region, such as Nador or Al Hoceima, and drive to Kassita from there.
With your own car you can visit family in several villages, shop when it suits you and avoid depending on timetables.
RentalMe is a Moroccan marketplace that connects renters with professional rental agencies. RentalMe has no fleet of its own and is not a peer-to-peer rental platform: each agency manages its own vehicles and sets its own conditions, insurance and deposit.
Nador is the most logical starting point for many travelers, especially if you land at Nador airport. The guide to car rental at Nador airport explains what to check at collection.
Al Hoceima is an alternative if you arrive there. The procedures are similar; see the guide to car rental at Al Hoceima airport.
Delivery to Kassita: if an agency offers to deliver the car to Kassita or a nearby village, have it confirmed in writing beforehand, including any charge.
Roads in the Rif combine paved main roads with winding sections, village crossings and sometimes unpaved tracks up to remote houses. The largest model is not always necessary.
| Category | Suits | Advantages | Points to watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small city car | Solo or couple, little luggage | Lower rental price, economical, easy to park | Little space, less comfort on rough surfaces |
| Compact family car | Couple or small family | More comfort and legroom | Slightly more expensive, less nimble in narrow streets |
| Family car / MPV | Family with children and lots of luggage | Spacious interior, large boot | Higher consumption, harder to manoeuvre in villages |
| SUV / crossover | Unpaved tracks, heavy loads | More ground clearance, comfortable in the mountains | Higher rental price and consumption |
| Van / minibus | Large families | Plenty of room for passengers and luggage | Highest rate, parking can be tricky |
If you are traveling home with suitcases and gifts, check the luggage space and number of seats in the offer. The cheapest car is not always the best fit for a full family.
Each professional agency has its own conditions. Before collection, ask for everything in writing:
Insurance packages, deductibles and deposits differ from one agency to another. Do not sign anything without reading it.
A low daily price can come with a higher deductible. Compare the total picture, not just the price per day.
Many families prefer to drive with two drivers. An additional driver must be listed in the rental contract; ask beforehand whether this is possible and whether a surcharge applies. If you are traveling with young children, ask whether a child seat is available.
Ask the agency which documents it needs for the contract, such as your driving licence and passport or ID card, and which payment methods it accepts for the deposit. Each agency also sets the minimum age and how long you must have held your licence; check these in the offer. If you are unsure whether your licence is valid in Morocco, consult an official source before you travel.
At collection, check in the contract:
If anything in the contract is unclear, ask for an explanation before you sign.
From Nador or Al Hoceima you drive on regional roads through mountainous country with bends, villages and varying road quality.
If you are in the region for work, allow plenty of time: journey times on mountain roads are less predictable than on motorways.
Parking is often along the road or on open ground near a family home. After rain the ground can be muddy.
Many travelers also use the rental car to visit Driouch, Midar and surrounding villages. The overview guide to car rental in Driouch covers renting for this province. If you are also going to Midar, read the guide to car rental in Midar.
Examples:
The price depends on the category, season, rental length and agency. As non-binding guidance, expect roughly 100–700 dirhams per day, depending on vehicle category, season, agency and the actual offer. This is not a guaranteed price: only the agency's written quote for your dates gives the real price.
RentalMe connects renters with professional rental agencies. The rental relationship is always between you and the chosen agency, which manages its fleet, sets its conditions and confirms or declines bookings.
RentalMe is preparing its public launch. To stay informed, you can join the RentalMe waitlist; signing up is not a booking and not a payment.
You will find more destination guides on the RentalMe blog and on the RentalMe website.
Do not count on it. You will usually collect the car in Nador or Al Hoceima. If an agency offers delivery to Kassita, have it confirmed in writing with the cost.
As a guide, between 100 and 700 dirhams per day, depending on category, season, agency and the actual offer. The final price can change with optional insurance, extra kilometres or a return elsewhere.
Not always. On paved roads with little luggage a regular car is often enough. For unpaved tracks, heavy loads or more comfort in the mountains, an SUV or crossover can be more pleasant.
That is up to the agency. Ask beforehand which documents and payment methods it accepts, and check age and licence requirements in the offer.
Call the agency's assistance number from your contract, take photos of the situation and follow the instructions. Keep all documents.
