Jebha rarely has a rental desk, so most travelers collect a car in Chefchaouen, Tetouan or Tangier. This guide explains what to compare, what to confirm in writing and how to prepare the drive.
El Jebha is a fishing village where the Rif mountains drop down to the Mediterranean Sea, in Chefchaouen province. If you are looking for car rental for Jebha, it helps to know from the start that you usually do not collect the car in the village itself: you pick it up in a larger northern city and drive to the coast. That changes how you plan the trip.
The most practical option is usually to rent in Chefchaouen, Tetouan or Tangier and reach Jebha by road. With your own car you can travel at your own pace, stop at viewpoints and villages, and organise your stay without depending on public transport timetables.
RentalMe is a Moroccan marketplace that connects people looking for a vehicle with professional rental agencies. It has no fleet of its own and is not a peer-to-peer platform: each agency manages its vehicles and sets its own terms, insurance and deposit. This guide focuses on practical points: where to collect the car, which category to choose, what to confirm in writing, and how to prepare the drive and the stay.
Do not count on finding a rental desk in El Jebha. Most travelers arrive with a car collected in another city. If an agency offers to deliver the vehicle to Jebha, ask it to confirm this in writing together with any cost.
Each agency decides its pickup and return points and its opening hours. Compare several offers and choose the one that best fits your dates and itinerary.
The way to Jebha combines Rif mountain sections and winding coastal roads, so your choice of vehicle affects comfort. You do not always need the biggest model.
| Category | Advantages | Drawbacks |
|---|---|---|
| Compact / small sedan | Low fuel use, easy to park in narrow streets | Less power on climbs, less comfort on rough surfaces |
| SUV / crossover | More ground clearance, comfort on mountain sections | Higher fuel use and higher rental price |
| Van / people carrier | Room for families or groups with luggage | Hard to manoeuvre in small villages |
A car with air conditioning and brakes in good condition matters in hot months and on long descents. Check whether the offer includes unlimited mileage, especially if you want to combine Jebha with other northern destinations such as Al Hoceima.
The terrain makes advance planning worthwhile. Rif roads are very scenic but can be slow because of bends and local traffic: motorbikes, pedestrians and animals.
Set off in the morning so you drive most of the way in daylight. In the rainy season, check the forecast and road conditions before leaving, because fog and rain reduce visibility in the mountains. Download offline maps for areas with weak coverage, tell the agency if you plan to return the car elsewhere, and always follow the road signs and posted speed limits.
Each professional agency sets its own conditions. Before collecting the vehicle, ask for everything in writing:
Before you set off, be clear about insurance and the deposit. Do not sign without reading.
Insurance and excess: ask for details of the included cover, the excess you might have to pay if there is damage, and the options to reduce it. Ask what is excluded (tyres, glass, underside of the vehicle) and whether the cover applies to the roads on your itinerary.
Deposit: the amount, payment method and release conditions depend on each agency. Make sure they appear in the contract.
Documents: ask the agency which documents it requires to sign the contract (driving licence, ID card or passport). If you are unsure whether your licence is valid in Morocco, check an official source before you travel.
Vehicle inspection: check the car before accepting it. Take photos or a video of the tyres, glass, bodywork and interior, and make sure existing damage is noted on the handover report.
Driving in northern Morocco mixes urban sections, mountain roads and small coastal roads. A few basic tips:
El Jebha is a quiet place with local life, a fishing harbour and views over the Mediterranean. The experience here is about the sea, seafood and calm.
Parking: streets can be narrow. Ask your accommodation where best to park and do not block entrances or streets.
Cash and shopping: carry some cash in dirhams, because not every small shop accepts cards. Fill the tank and buy what you need before leaving the larger cities.
Activities: walks around the harbour, nearby beaches, fresh fish and short drives along the coast. Outside the high season, check restaurant and shop opening hours.

The price depends on the vehicle category, the season, the rental length and the agency. As a non-binding indication, plan for roughly 100–700 DH per day depending on category, season, agency and the actual offer. This is not a guaranteed price: only the agency's written quote for your dates gives the real price.
Ways to save:
Do not count on it. The usual approach is to collect the car in a larger city such as Chefchaouen, Tetouan or Tangier. If an agency offers delivery to Jebha, ask for confirmation and the cost in writing.
It depends on the agency. Some allow it for a surcharge. Confirm it in writing in the contract before pickup.
For paved roads, few passengers and a tight budget, a small car is economical and easy to park. If you travel with more people and luggage or want more comfort in the mountains, an SUV may be more comfortable.
As an indication, between 100 and 700 DH per day depending on category, season, agency and the actual offer. The final price can vary with optional insurance, extra mileage or a one-way return.
Call the agency's assistance number shown in your contract. Take photos of any damage and follow its instructions. Keep all documents in case of a later claim.
